Made with Code:
A protest guitar. Made with Code.
Google's Made With Code initiative wanted to do something at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park. Something bigger than a banner. Something that meant it.
The platform uses Blockly — a block-based coding system designed to give young women an easy, approachable first step into code. Simple by design. Powerful in the right hands.
Our job was to take that idea and make it unmissable.
inspiration came in from the guitars of Woody Guthrie and Tom Morello. Instrument turned into something powerful. A weapon made of wood and wire.
That was it. What if we built a modern day protest guitar. For Ed Sheeran - a headliner at the festival.
A canvas. Built by the crowd. Young people around the world coding their own messages of hope directly onto the guitar in real time. During the set. Live.
The ultimate ambition — to write a new song. With the community. With Blockly. Performed on that stage, on that night, on that guitar.
An instrument that belonged to everyone who helped build it.
