PITCH: Made with Code
What can we make with code? A protest guitar.
Girls who code change the world. Google knew that. The problem was getting everyone else to.
Google had launched Made With Code—a $50 million initiative to inspire teenage girls to explore computer science by showing its creative potential. They had the tools, like Blockly, which allowed girls to program messages of hope.
What they needed was a way to bring those messages into the real world.
The idea was simple. Turn them into a modern-day, ever changing protest guitar—an object people recognise, but reimagined. Inspired by Woody Guthrie, and put into the hands of Ed Sheeran on stage at the Global Citizen Festival, where Google was a main sponsor.
From there, the guitar would travel—passed between artists, amplified through culture—and released as a limited edition, with all proceeds supporting Made With Code.
